Golden Retarder is a professional-quality additive designed to slow the drying rate of acrylic paint without affecting its consistency. Ideal for techniques that require extended blending time, such as smooth gradients, subtle transitions, or detailed layering, this clear liquid medium allows artists and students to work at a comfortable pace. It is especially useful in warm environments or on fast-absorbing surfaces, giving more flexibility when manipulating paint.

Retarder is not a thinning agent and should be used sparingly—typically mixed with acrylic colour at a ratio of up to 15 percent. It maintains the paint’s body and colour strength while significantly delaying the drying process, making it suitable for both brush and palette knife work.
