Glass is the material students most often overwork, so this set is a useful vehicle for teaching what to leave out. Teachers can set a facade rendering exercise where students must reserve untouched paper for every highlight before applying any ink, then add reflection in no more than two layers - the discipline produces far more convincing glazing than heavy shading ever will. Angled diagonal strokes across panes, a standard architectural convention for reflection, are easy to demonstrate with the chisel nib. In Visual Communication Design, the palette supports architectural elevations, streetscapes, exterior perspectives, and presentation drawings where a building's transparency is central to the design idea. It introduces students to reflection, transparency and the deliberate use of negative space in rendering.
