About this Online Workshop
This workshop utilises various curriculum areas to strengthen student connection and understanding to their learning, as well as increase student outcomes through inclusive, individual and creative approaches.
Learn how you can provide your students with engaging and authentic cross-curricular learning experiences, practise vast skills that are required to view, comprehend, read, write and respond to texts (including multimodal) as well as artworks (both their own and other artists).
The embedded pedagogy builds on students’ abilities to connect literature and art at literal, inferential, and evaluative levels.
Research shows that students are more engaged and understand better when they relate learning to themselves, other texts and artworks, and the world around them.
In the English curriculum, these connections are known as text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world.
This workshop uses these strategies with a variety of multimodal texts, illustrations, and artists’ works.
Students can also use these strategies to reflect on their own artwork and writing, and they work well across other areas of the curriculum.
This workshop also embeds cross-curricular links to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.
