The learning objectives for this lesson are to explore the visual art practice of contemporary quilt artist Emily Van Hoff. They will respond to her use of colour, pattern and shape by designing and printing a mini artwork using EVA foam stamps. Students will develop skills in repetition, stamping techniques, and layered compositions, with a focus on sustainability and creative play.

Materials:     

  • EVA foam tangram and geometric shapes
  • Acrylic paints (Global or similar)
  • Sponges or foam stamp pads
  • Graph paper or plain paper
  • Rulers, pencils, erasers
  • A5 200gsm paper or blank cards
  • Baby wipes or damp cloths for cleaning stamps
  • Optional: black markers, round stamps, embellishments, slicks, gel printing plate
