In this video we will use a cross-stitch technique to fill in a marker drawn portrait on stitching card.
Stitched Pixel Portrait
Step 1
Use a skewer or toothpick to poke out the holes in your card.
Step 2
Place a scrap piece of paper inside your card. Use Colourful markers to draw your portrait and leave to set for a couple of minutes.
Step 3
Cut a length of yarn to match your marker colour, thread it onto a plastic needle and tie a chunky knot into the other end. Use decorative embroidery stitches (we used cross stitch) or freeform stitches to fill in all of the coloured in areas of your portrait. When you finish a length of yarn loop it around at the back and tie a knot before trimming.
Step 4
Use single stitches and knots to create details such as eyes, ears, nose and eyebrows.
