In this video we will make sparkling geodes by mixing Epsom salts with food dye and pouring the mixture into small clay dishes. With the process of evaporation, our mixture will turn into sparkling crystals.

Step 1

Use air drying clay to make a shallow pinch pot and leave to completely dry.

Step 2

Half fill a small paper cup with warm water then add Epsom salts one spoon at a time making sure to dissolve them as you go. Keep adding the salts until they no longer dissolve. Now add a few drops of food dye to colour your mixture.

Step 3

Pour some of the mixture into your pinch pot and leave the water to evaporate. This process can take a day or two.

Step 4

When all of the water has evaporated you can leave your geode as it is or paint the outside of your pot.
