Music Maker (Book Week 2026)

Create your own wearable music maker! Inspired by this year's CBCA Book Week theme Symphony of Story and illustrator Briony Stewart's beautiful themed illustrations, students will design and craft a music maker to wear on their wrist.

 

Step 1

Cut card 3 to 4 cm wide, 20 to 27 cm long. Keep corrugation vertical.

Step 2

Add 1 to 2 holes in the centre. Add 2 holes on the opposite side.

Step 3

Glue trim along edges or stick individual pom poms on top.

Step 4

Cut ribbons. Thread through holes. Tie loosely.

Step 5

Thread bells onto chenille stem. Push through holes. Twist to secure.

Step 6

Join ends. Staple to fit wrist.

Step 7

Add patterns with paint markers.
