In this video we will look at the works of Australian First Nations artist Abbert Namatjira and create an Australian landscape artwork using watercolours and air-drying clay.
Mixed Media Landscapes | Celebrating Albert Namatjira
Step 1
Study the works of Albert Namatjira and use this as inspiration to paint a background watercolour landscape. When you are happy with your design you can leave it to dry.
Step 2
Choose a species of gum tree to add to your design and mix some Magiclay colours to replicate the colours found on the bark and leaves of the tree.
Step 3
Press pieces of Magiclay onto your painted landscape to form your gum trees. Layer the different colours to replicate the texture of bark. When you are happy with your tree you can leave your clay to dry.
