Mixed Media Aussie Christmas Characters

This activity explores the use of graphic shapes and simple lines to create a fun Australian animal Christmas character. Using a selection of mixed media materials, these characters are quick and easy for students to construct.

Step 1

Trace around the wooden base shape and use it to sketch out your Aussie animal character design. Keep your shapes and linework as simple as possible.

Step 2

Using your sketch as a guide, paint your wooden base and the two stand pieces with Acrylic paint and leave them to dry.

Step 3

Use coloured card to cut out the shapes you will need for character then glue them into position on your painted wooden base.

Step 4

Attach the two wooden stand pieces to the notches at the base of your Christmas Character.
