Mindful Mosaics

In this activity, we will create a decorative pattern using basic stationery supplies on grid paper. The repetitive motion of filling in the squares with colour and pattern is calming to the mind and offers students a wellness break during their day.

Step 1

Use Highlighters to create a pattern on 10mm grid paper. Use 1 colour for the entire pattern, or add more colours for a vibrant design. Using a repetitive pattern can help calm your mind.

Step 2

Now assign a different pattern/symbol for each colour you have used or, if you have used 1 or 2 colours, you can assign different patterns/symbols to different areas of your design. Use gel pens to draw each pattern over the corresponding coloured squares. Continue until your design is complete.
