Ghost Tea Light Holder

In this video we will create a spooky ghost tealight by shaping and cutting air drying clay.

Step 1

Roll out a 200g (child fist size) piece of clay to 1cm thickness and use a clay tool to cut out a 6-7cm oval shape which will be your base plate.

Step 2

Ball up the remaining clay and roll it out to 1cm thickness. Use a clay tool to cut out a wide ghost shape that is flat along the bottom.

Step 3

Cut out eyes and a mouth, making sure not to come too close to the edge of the clay. Smooth out any rough edges of your ghost and base plate. You can use a little water if necessary.

Step 4

Use a clay tool to join the ghost shape to the base plate. If your clay is starting to dry, you can rough up the areas that will be joined together and add a clay slip before joining your pieces together.

Step 5

Now leave your clay to dry for 48 hours. If your ghost shape starts to droop, you can prop it up using a paper cup wrapped in plastic. When your ghost is dry, place a battery tea light on the base plate and cast your spooky ghost shadow on the wall.
