Folded Paper Diwali Diya

We will use fun paper folding techniques to craft our own colourful Diya to celebrate Diwali. 

Step 1

Fold 6 round sheets of coloured paper into quarters.

Step 2

Glueone of the quarters onto the lower left hand side of a piece of coloured card.

Step 3

Add glue to the single folded edge of the paper quarter then glue the next quarter in place. Continue until you have glued your 6 quarters together along their single folded edges.

Step 4

Add glue to the top folded paper quarter then bring it across and press it onto the right hand side of the card.

Step 5

Cut a yellow paper circle in half then fold one half into a quarter. Cut the curve away to make a triangle when opened. Fan fold the triangle then fold it in half. Add glue along the fold line then press together. This will be your flame. Glue it in place above your Diya.

Step 6

Add colourful adhesive gems around the flame.
