In this video we will create a black and white moonscape using a variety of charcoal sticks and a kneadable eraser.
Charcoal Moonscape
Step 1
Use a black compressed charcoal stick on its side to cover a sheet of A4 cartridge paper. Rub a pastel applicator, cotton ball or your fingers over the charcoal to create an even tone across the paper.
Step 2
Shape a kneadable eraser into a point and use it to mark out a large circle for your moon and then use your eraser to create craters, ridges and other lunar surface marks.
Step 3
Use black and white charcoal to add shadow and highlight details.
Step 4
Create a landscape under the moon using your eraser and charcoal sticks.
Step 5
When you are happy with your design spray your artwork with Fixative to prevent smudges.
