Mixed Media Tie Dye Sculpture Inspired By Louise Meuwissen and Maria Nepomuceno

The learning objectives for this lesson are to explore analyse the works from artists Louise Meuwissen and Maria Nepomuceno. They will consider the artists use of materials, the environment and techniques to create their own Mixed Media Tie Dye Sculpture.

Materials     

  • Prewashed calico fabric (students can handwash during class time)
  • Tie Dye
  • Recycled containers and plastic bags
  • Embellishments, such as assorted beads, sequins
  • Threads, needles
  • Wool, twine
  • Paint (can be acrylic, gouache or watercolour)
  • Paint brushes, assorted
  • Scissors
  • Glue, SuperTac, hot glue gun and sticks
  • Wire, assorted width
  • Water
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Elastic bands (for tie dyeing)
  • Visual Art Journal
  • Grey lead pencil
