Lost Thing Sculpture Inspired by Shaun Tan

A workshop table displaying three works-in-progress from the Zart Education On Demand lesson Lost Thing Sculpture Inspired By Shaun Tan, presented by Francesca Spillane. Each sculpture is built over a cardboard cone or roll using Creative Clay (air dry paper clay), with embedded buckles, chenille stems, beads and coloured clay details reflecting the Industrial Retro aesthetic of Shaun Tan's creatures.

The learning objectives for this lesson are to design and construct a mixed-media sculpture of an imagined ‘lost thing’, combining hand-built clay forms with found and constructed materials, while exploring themes of belonging and individuality drawn from Shaun Tan’s storytelling.
