Fabric Wire Flowers Inspired by CJ Hendry

The learning objectives for this lesson are to explore the expressive qualities of line, shape and form through observational drawing and sculpture. Inspired by CJ Hendry’s Flower Market series, students will create a series of continuous line floral studies, then transform one into a wire sculpture enhanced with textiles and embellishments.

Materials     

  • Cartridge paper
  • Visual Art Diary
  • Pencils 
  • Fine liners
  • Watercolour paper 
  • Watercolour palettes and brushes
  • Water cup and paper towel
  • Armature wire (soft/thin gauge)
  • Pliers, wire cutters
  • Stocking Pieces or Stockings
  • Thread, needles, scissors
  • Beads, buttons, sequins
  • Supertac glue (if required)
