Creative Response and Connection: ‘Lost Things’ Armature Sculptures

This lesson is designed for students from Level 5through to Level 8 to explore sculptural artmaking techniques using wire armature, inspired by Carolyn Watson and Shaun Tan. They will experiment with form, texture and character to construct imaginative, expressive 3D sculptural art works.

  • Armature wire (florist wire, 8 gauge, 14 gauge) sizes optional
  • Pliers (including long-nose)
  • Wire cutters
  • Aluminium foil
  • Masking tape (various widths)
  • Mod Roc or Art Rock strips
  • Newspaper
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paintbrushes

Optional: seed pods, skewers, found natural/recycled materials
