Clay Knee Bowls inspired by Mairi Stone

The learning objectives for this lesson are to explore natural textures and forms through tactile clay techniques to create a decorative 'knee bowl' inspired by ceramic artist Mairi Stone.

Materials     

  • Oz Clay or air-dry clay 
  • Paper towels
  • Texture tools: sea shells, LEGO, pencils, straws, buttons, pen lids
  • Acrylic paints or pearlescent watercolours
  • Paintbrushes and water jars
  • Mod Podge or clear gloss
