Animal Lino Cut Stamp and Print by Ghost Patrol

Students will design, carve and print a simplified animal relief stamp using soft-cut carving blocks, then layer colour and complementary elements to compose a finished mixed-media print that responds to the simplified line work of Ghost Patrol and the cultural storytelling of Alick Tipoti’s linocut practice.

Materials:     

  • Soft-cut carving block, 14.5 x 21cm
  • Lino carving tools, V-gouge and U-gouge shapes
  • Erasers 
  • Graphite transfer paper
  • Cartridge paper, 110gsm
  • Bulky newsprint, 49gsm
  • Coloured craft card, in a range of shapes and finishes
  • Permanent markers, black and coloured 
  • Stamp pad, 7 colours
  • Foam stampers, geometric shapes
  • Gouache paint, 10ml colours, optional 
  • Coloured drawing inks optional 
  • Ruler, Stanley knife, scissors and a cutting mat or safety board
  • Damp cloths or wet wipes
