In this video we will use a yarn wrapping technique to create a cardboard Blue Banded Bee.

Step 1

Cut an egg shape out of thick cardboard and use Acrylics or Poster Paint to colour it black. Leave it to dry.

Step 2

Draw a round head, 2 x wings and a stinger on a sheet of kraft card and cut them out. Glue joggle eyes onto the face and tape pipe cleaner antenna onto the back of the head.

Step 3

Once your painted body is dry cut out small notches along both sides of the body making sure both sides have an equal amount.

Step 4

Tape one end of your yarn onto the back of the body and begin to wind it around the body using the notches you have cut to create a striped pattern. When you have finished cut your yarn and tape the end to the back of the body.

Step 5

Use tape and glue to attach the face, wings and stinger to your yarn wrapped body.
