Step into the art room with confidence in this two-day program for new and returning educators. Explore hands-on projects that build your own artmaking skills. Gain practical strategies for planning, assessment, and art room management. Leave equipped with resources, inspiration, and the confidence to deliver creative, organised, curriculum-aligned Visual Art programs.

Drawing

• Create a handmade Learning Journal to track ideas and progress
• Experiment with a range of drawing materials and mediums
• Explore line and pattern as key art elements
• Develop expressive continuous line drawings

Painting

• Discover paint, brushes, and tools through hands-on exploration
• Experiment with mark making, applications, and techniques
• Learn colour mixing, blending, form, and tone
• Apply skills to create a finished painting

Paper Construction

• Build a classroom display chart of construction techniques
• Create a paper portrait suitable for junior and middle primary
• Adapt projects for different year levels
• Explore form, space, and balance through construction

Planning and Assessment

• Navigate the Visual Arts curriculum with confidence
• Plan curriculum-aligned scope and sequence units
• Access tools and resources for lesson design
• Create rubrics for assessment and reporting

Art Room Management

• Establish smooth transitions and simple routines
• Foster positive student behaviour and engagement
• Manage set-up, storage, and clean-up efficiently
• Support early finishers and late finishers effectively
• Stretch your budget with ordering and storage strategies
