Gamblin Solvent Free Gel is a safer, non-toxic alternative to traditional oil painting mediums. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this gel improves paint flow and transparency while preserving texture and brushwork. It increases gloss and allows for easier manipulation of colour, making it ideal for blending, glazing, and direct painting techniques. Unlike traditional solvents, it contains no petroleum distillates, making it a suitable option for classrooms, studios, or any ventilated environment where health and safety are priorities.

The gel dries at a moderate rate—typically between 48 to 72 hours in thin layers—allowing artists more time for layering and adjustments. It is recommended to use this medium in small amounts, up to 25 percent by volume, to ensure proper drying and avoid excess softness or wrinkling in the paint film.
