This workshop is all about Soft Sculpture through Pop Culture!

Explore super kawaii cartoons and designs as inspiration as we learn how to take basic 2D drawings and turn them into soft and cuddly plushie creations that your students will love!

The cute aesthetic—with its bold, cartoon-like lines and rounded forms—informs a large segment of Japanese popular culture and lends itself perfectly to soft form artworks.

Join textiles artist Tania Di Berardino in this workshop as she guides you in how the simplest everyday objects can be turned into easy to achieve 3D soft sculptures.

In this workshop, you will:

• Explore the medium of Felt & Textiles
• Learn the basics of creating a soft sculpture
• Exploring pop culture kawaii cartoons and characters
• Begin with basic cartoon sketches and designs
• Be guided how to take your 2D designs and turn them into soft sculpture forms
• Learn the basic techniques of creating your own sewing patterns
• Transfer designs onto felt and fabric
• Learn a range of basic sewing skills & stitches
• Create a range of small soft sculptures outcomes to take home
