Term: 3 Year: 2018
Year 8 artists were inspired by the street art of Banksy, Daniel ‘Ears’ O’Toole and more traditional painting groups such as The Abstract Expressionists.
Students first researched a chosen artist for inspiration and then drew several trial designs into their Visual Diaries. With this visual information they then simplified their final designs, and created a stencil of the main character or object. They used both spray painting and hand painting techniques to transfer their images onto a skateboard deck.
Though not functional as a skateboard to ride, the boards are a non-conventional canvas that provided an exciting opportunity to create a 2 dimensional image on a 3D surface.
This unusual piece invigorated the young artists’ imaginations!
