Creating Connections:
The Artist As Rock Star

with Mariah Calman

Suitable for: SECONDARY

Session Times Available: (AM) Morning or (PM) Afternoon

This workshop focuses on how to engage students with the art world by creating connections to their own personal worlds and interests.

The first part of the workshop facilitates a collection of strategies and resources to offer alternative methods for student learning such as rhymes, games, positive systems of behaviour, connections to artists and institutions, and immersive, scaffolded tasks for deep understanding.
These activities and resources aim to motivate students, while improving learning outcomes.

The second part of the workshop will allow participants to modify or develop their own versions of these resources from the perspective of teaching Del Kathryn Barton.
