I Can't Paint!
Rembrandt, Vegemite and Portraiture

with Daniel Butterworth

Vegemite, coffee and portraiture!?

This workshop is aimed at upper primary teachers looking for fun ways to approach painting and portraiture.

Facilitated by primary school art teacher and Archibald Prize Finalist Daniel Butterworth; Participants will learn how to engage students and interpret classic works from the Old Masters.

There will be a focus on observational skills and looking for tone, before advancing to use a limited palette and simple colour mixing. The workshop also focuses on application and mark making, whilst sparking student interest by using alternate materials such as coffee, mud, charcoal and Vegemite to create monochromatic preliminary studies and/or masterpieces!

So if you've ever heard a student utter the phrase "I Can't Paint..." - or worse, if you've ever been guilty of saying or thinking this yourself - Then this is definitely the workshop for you!
