Term: 3 Year: 2017

This work, an appropriation of the famous painting Starry Night by Vincent Van Gough, explores the visual qualities of texture and aims to capture the rhythmic quality of Starry Night. The original artwork already has textural elements through the use of the impasto technique of the paint.

Starry Night is also arguably one of the most influential artworks of the 20th century and is one of the most recognizable paintings in the world-hence why I chose this particular painting. Art is an important part of my life and I wanted to create a work that shows that everyone can appreciate art. In particular, I wanted to involve people who normally would not be interested in art.
